Hurricane Tigers 5th Grade Champions!
My 5th grade football team played last Saturday for the Championship against Moapa- a team we had never played before and was made up of not only 5th graders but a few 4th graders adn a lot of 6th graders! It was a really exciting game...We have been undefeated to this point. But this game they made the first touch down with in the first quarter. We got to the 5 yard line but fumbled and they got the ball. We finally made a touchdown with only a few seconds left in the first half but we didn't make the extra point, putting the score at 7-6. The other team scored another touchdown in the fourth quarter making the score 13-6 with only 8 minutes left in the game. When they kicked the ball to us after their touchdown, #2 on my team caught it and ran the full field making a touchdown! We made our extra point. The score was tied.......the other team had the ball, and only about 5 minutes left in the game. We held them back and got the ball. With only a minute left in the game we scored. They had the ball with just enough time to make a touchdown but they fumbled the ball and we held the ball for the last 10 seconds. We won 20-13.....We got some really cool trophy's and celebrated with the team for about half an hour. It was the most exciting day of my life!

Arrow of Light
On Wednesday, October 15th I got my Arrow of Light. My scoutmaster painted my face while he told the arrow of light story.
Then I was given my Arrow of Light and I pinned my Mom's pin on her.
Then I had to build the bridge with the Scout Oath. I was able to do it with out any help.
After I built the bridge I repeated the oath as I walked across it. A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. (They forgot the board for hungry.)
When I got to the other side I was welcomed into Boy Scouts and given my scarf & handbook.

This Thing We Call Rodeo
Peach Days Rodeo was last night
My cousin Austin won the buckle & $26.00 cash prize in the steer riding ages 8-11. He rode for 2.1 seconds. Here's me & Austin waiting...
I have rode the steers the last two years but this year Uncle John called to tell my dad he had registered me to ride his mule Astro. Astro is a little 5 year old mule that Unlce John has yet broke. He has never had anyone on his back so we were not sure what he'd do- Uncle John said he might not buck at all but grandma randee said he's old enough to know he doesn't want something on him and he'd do his darndest to get it off! My dad told me if I stayed on for 4 seconds he'd buy me a shotgun.. I was pretty determined! The steer riding was over and we had to wait forever for the barrel racing to be over. While we waited I got a lot of coaching from Fred Rubio who rides bulls. Finally it was my turn- I was a little nervous but no too bad.
I got on him and so far no big deal-then he started buckin like crazy. My dad yelled at them to open the chute before he killed me. My mom started getting really nervous. Finally they opened the chute and here I go! (sorry the video is sideways- we couldn't figure out how to flip it)
I barley hung on for four seconds-halfway to being a pro! Too bad this wasn't a real event I'd have won something for sure! Here's my shot gun! Dove hunt starts tomarrow- now all I need is my license.

24th of July
me & Austin got snowcones for 25cents while we waited in line for the dunking booth- we played horse shoes, threw darts at balloons, raced in the foot races, and racesd to see who could fill up the cup with squirt guns the fastest. And we rode on a float in the parade.
Austin & I got dunked five times-

Camping at Oak City
Uncle Scott & Dad put a muddy buddy treat in Stetson's mouth while he was sleeping and makeup on his eyebrows, nose and cheeks. He didn't even wake up!
Me and the cousins made a dam in the creek at Oak City. It is only a few inches deep and we got it about two feet deep.
